December 13 and 14: Santaland. Not only will Santa be on site with his helpers (visitors can get a free photo taken with the red-suited jolly fellow), but favorite characters such as SpongeBob, Barney and the loveable Muppets from Sesame Street will be there too. Enjoy goodies and hot chocolate from the Donut Bank and live music and songs. Event is from 3 to 6 p.m. each evening.

November 22: Downtown Holiday Parade. This community tradition has entered its second decade of ushering in the Holiday season with plenty of spirited music, marching bands, colorful floats, clowns, dancers and much more. Included in the festivities are the lighting of the City Christmas Tree and the much-anticipated arrival of Santa Claus. Before the Parade, at the corner of Fourth and Main Streets, kids can enjoy free arts and crafts, live entertainment and have their photos taken with St. Nick. The parade route is scheduled to start at the Centre and journey down Locust Street, turning on Second Street and then will continue up Main Street in Downtown Evansville. The Parade begins at 3 p.m.

December 4 through 6: Newburgh Celebrates Christmas. A weekend packed with plenty of spirit, events include the arrival of Santa, the lighting of the town Christmas tree, caroling, tours, and more items of interest to celebrate the season.

Continuing through November 29: Exhibition: The Child Mummy – On display in the Old Gallery, this exquisite item is a rare glimpse into the preservation methods of the ancients. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Closed Mondays.

November 26 through January 3, 2010: Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights. A mile-long drive past dozens of animated Holiday light displays await visitors to this, the largest annual winter light show in Indiana. Proceeds go to benefit the Easter Seals of Southwest Indiana. Horse-drawn carriage rides are available each night of the event as well.

November 22: It’s Easy Being Green. Through storytelling and song, Susan Fowler takes guests on a journey from the simple times of campfires and candles to modern lighting and the future of illumination. Event held in the Freedom Gallery at 2 p.m.

November 28: Photography Exhibit. Nikki Davis, author of All Children are Beautiful, celebrates diversity with guests through hands-on activities and more. Davis’ photography will also be on display at cMoe through November 30. Event is from 1 to 3 p.m.

November 29: Stories in Action. Favorite Holiday tales are part of this fun happening, which includes music and crafts presented by the able staff from cMoe. Begins in the Freedom Gallery at 2 p.m.

December 5: Breakfast with Santa. The Zoo hosts this special event, complete with crafts, photo opportunities and a jolly breakfast with the main man from the North Pole. Call the number above and dial extension 406 to make reservations.

November 26 through 29: 76th Annual Hadi Shrine Circus. Showtimes for this Thanksgiving weekend tradition are Thanksgiving Day at 2 and 7 p.m., November 27 and 28 at 9:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and a final matinee at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 29.

November 15, 18 through 22: A Christmas Carol. A musical adaptation by director Lenny Leibowitz of one of the most perfect tales ever written, this play will bring children of all ages to the doorstep of the Holiday Season. Call for more information.

December 12: Reindeer Games with Santa. Kids can come and enjoy Holiday crafts and hands-on activities along with a provided snack. Cost is $4 per person or $12 per family. Registration for this event is required. Call for more information.
